If you like Barn dancing, then you will love Square Dancing too.
Square Dancing is fun and the club is very friendly and welcoming. We like to dance well, but don’t take it too seriously.
The evening is divided into a number of tips.
The first thing you hear is an invitation to “square up”. Dancers stand in groups of eight, four couples facing each other round an imaginary square.
The dance moves are directed by the caller. These moves are taught in beginners classes and at first you will be taught the basic moves. If all the moves in a tip are restricted to Basic, then the caller will announce it as a "Basic Tip". Once you have learned these, you progress to other moves in the Mainstream level. After that, you will graduate and start attending dances. Of course it doesn't have to end there, if you wish to carry on learning there are more advanced levels to really test you!
